Learners will be following a Science Fiction theme to explore and use different specialist materials, techniques, equipment and processes.  A portfolio of work containing research, drawings and sketches will be produced before designing concept boards and maquettes.

Throughout this, unit learners have the opportunity to design and build a portfolio.  This begins by exploring the purpose of a portfolio before moving on to compiling one based on showing year 9 students what is expected at GCSE Level

In this unit learners explore 2D media in a series of activities that will support them in developing their visual communication skills. They will gather a range of different examples of 2D work for a portfolio, which will demonstrate their knowledge, and understanding of 2D working methods.

They will learn about essential health and safety practice within the creative industries, for example using equipment safely, working safely and recycling materials.

Exam January 2019:

This is 20 hours comprising of 10 hours preparation and 10 hours for the examination.  This unit will develop the learners own creative response to a vocationally themed brief.
