The literacy and numeracy catch-up premium gives schools additional funding to support year 7 pupils who did not achieve  the expected standard in Reading and/or Maths at the end of key stage 2 (KS2).

Improvement Initiative Amount (£) Description

Improving Literacy

Accelerated Reader This scheme is designed to improve reading and comprehension as measured by an increase in a pupils’ reading age.
Paired Reading 552.00 Paired Reading Support – 20 x 30 minutes’ sessions with a Learning Support Assistant (6 staff members) to improve reading confidence and enjoyment.
Literacy Support Group 3,853.00 Working in small groups for 30 minutes’ over 20 sessions with a Special Needs Teacher. With the aim of securing Age Related Expectations (ARE).
Specialist English 4 x 45 minute lessons each week with a Specialist English Teacher. With the aim of securing Age Related Expectations (ARE) to ensure students have secondary ready Literacy skills.

Improving Numeracy

Specialist Maths 3 x 45 minute lessons each week with a Specialist Maths Teacher. With the aim of securing Age Related Expectations (ARE).
Numeracy Support Group 92.00 20 x 30 minute small group work sessions with a Learning Support Assistant. With the aim of securing Age Related Expectations (ARE) to ensure students have secondary ready Numeracy skills.

ELSA Support 618.00 Additional transition support for students that are not Secondary Ready
Chill & Chat 368.00 Lunchtime Support
Homework Club 1310.00 4 x hour long sessions each week. Hosted by Learning Support Assistant. To provide a supported learning environment for students who would otherwise struggle to succeed in this area with a possible lack of home support.
